I really like the tone of these commercials.
Also, I enjoy that they keep saying magic or magical; only because I know how angry people (trolls, mostly) here get about it.
Apple commercials are bright, uplifting and show how technology enhances the human experience. They show people using iPads, iPhones, MacBooks, etc in everyday situations. However Android Zoom, BB Playbook, Tab are dark, joyless with people abducted by aliens, enveloped and overpowered by machines, etc.
you are very observant-nice job...

Those are Movie Trailers for the iPod.
Yeah, I just posted that same response on digg, right before it went down for maintenance. One of those "CONFIRMED" headlines saying they had confirmation of the iTMovieStore. Makes me want to roll my... oh yeah :rolleyes:

Actually scrollbars look and behave exactly the same as they did before.
Whether they automatically hide or not is a preference, it has been since the first DP:
Image (http://i.imgur.com/b0Qlw.png)
Same with reverse scrolling. Nothing at all has changed about scrolling or scrollbars.
Same here, but maybe they have had a clean install on their systems after update II.
The scrolling is similar to any of the previous we have had so far.

So it's like Reddit now. Cooleo
Edit: To fix the boxes around the images in IE just use a little CSS
tagName img{
border: none;
}
That should solve your woes there. IE likes to default the CSS border on images to visitable.

You're getting negative votes on your post just because people here know that Apple will never do that
I don't really see why Apple will never do that. When Jobs said styluses are crap, obviously he didn't mean styluses as writing devices, he meant styluses as the way to interact with OS.
Education applications seem to be of some importance to Apple, and stylus support is pretty much required to make iPad useful for students, for example.

Oh yeah thanks to your help in getting the SMP client and giving the GPU client a go, I am now in the top 20 producers. Not bad considering when a few years back I had only an iBook and I was producing 48 points a day and did that for over a year!
I don't know how long I will be able to sustain that rate though might have to drop back.
yeah no problem.
well just put up those numbers for as long as you can. our team can use the points, and of course for the cause

Forget about paying dividends; people are making enough money on Apple stock. Apple needs to think about how to turn its $10 billion in cash into $50 billion in cash. And the way to do that is to grow. Buy up companies!!!
Success in not necessarily about accumulating cash. Far from it, in fact. A company that sits on huge piles of cash and does nothing with it, is not seen as managing their capital resources well. Many if not most financial analysts would argue that if the company is not investing their cash in future growth (and Apple decidedly is not), then they should give at least some of it back to the stockholders.
In addition to what I said above, dividends are a signal from the company that they're feeling secure about the future. Dividends, even token dividends, are a sign of maturity and stability. Hoarding cash is not.

Personally, i don't think this format war is very worth while to begin with. I mean Blu-Ray does seem to be the leading format, but i think i will rather wait for this Hybrid Disc to come out that uses the same Red laser that our burners already have:

My predictions:
1. iTunes Movie Store with Disney and Lion's Gate. Pixar film "Cars" available for download immediately ahead of DVD release! Movies are DVD quality, and cost $14.99 including a version playable on your iPod.
2. New iPods. Wide-screen iPod with 720x480 resolution, perfect for wide-screen DVD quality movies. Touch interface. New Nano's, all-metal casing, 4 colors, up to 8GB. All available starting today.
3. One more thing...Watching TV & Movies on the road is great, but where most people enjoy these things is on TV. New device. Streams movies to your TV from your Mac. Front Row interface, HDMI output, Apple remote. Also, Front Row 2.0. Not a WiFi device. Uses dedicated spectrum for quality. (8MB embedded Flash RAM cache allows films to stream uninterupted). New features, including movie and music purchases within the interface. Available for download today so you can upgrade your Home Theater Mac Mini.

Code optimization & tweaking is always good.. very good, but you'll eventually run up against the limitations of the processor. I've been having that issue for the past two weeks here at work. Disk usage hasn't been the problem, it's just me needing more horsepower than the dual G5 can muster.
a C2D MBP would give you what? Maybe a 20% speed bump. I doubt you'd notice except if you used a stop watch. For photographers and Videographers I doubt C2D would bing even a 20% boost as their main bottleneck is the speed of the disk.
Try this experiment: Bring up Activity Monitor and see if the CPU is as 100% if it is not a faster CPU will do nothing for you. On a Mac the CPU is at 100% mostly when transcoding or redering, those tasks will go faster after the speed bump
My gues is that the code re-work inside Aperture will speed things up MUCH more than a C2D could.

If they had coupons with the ads that would be good. Otherwise, I'm not sure why I'd want to download this app. There isn't much interesting about little micro ad banners.
An app that brings all the things I hate together. Lovely. I know advertising is a necessary evil but an app that just displays ads? Biggest WTF of the year. I mean really, who the hell could this be marketed to? People that just enjoy looking at tiny, crappy advertisements? No one is that boring or unproductive.
Have any of you negative commenters ever owned an iPhone or even seen an iAd? If not, please reserve your comments.
These aren't just tiny micro banners/advertisements. Those are just the teaser into viewing the full screen iAd and actually, some of them are fairly creative in their implementation. Most are fairly interactive and none of the iAds take you out of the current App your using just to view it (like the old AdMob ads would do). There may be some that allow you to email a coupon to yourself, but I haven't come across any yet.
Long story short, if you don't like ads, don't download free apps that are ad supported or (here's a clever idea) DON'T CLICK ON THE AD. Otherwise, just keep your useless and/or 'clever' comments to yourselves unless you actually know what your talking about.

What did you think they would do, rummage through all the non-app store apps on the Mac platform? Lol, some people are ridiculous.
Are you new to the design awards? They have existed for years without the App Store. It used to to be that you would submit your app to Apple prior to WWDC. Why would an App Store be required?

I can see it being more of a hinderance in the main news threads, however for the question threads in the main forum it could be beneficial to highlight the most 'popular' answer.
